Gains from Game Engagements
Games help in maintaining psychological inertia and its homeostasis. Games feed psychological hunger components to the exclusion of aspirational hunger. Intense feelings generate internal strokes that fulfill stimulus hunger needs. The game payoff is impacting and are difficult to erase with ease. The interactions fulfill recognition hunger. Game itself forms one of the six methods of structuring time. Games generate and foster pseudo-intimacy. They help to reinforce one's favourite life position. Thereby they fulfill position hunger. They generate incidents of hurt and pain which fulfill incidence hunger. Classical theory states that games provide six advantages. They are:
Existential Advantage: They reinforce one's life position.
Biological Advantage: They help to keep the supply of strokes going.
Internal Psychological Advantage: Games help to maintain stability of the psychic system and script beliefs about self, other/s and one's quality of life entitlements.
External Psychological Advantage: They help to avoid situations that would be difficult to handle. There is a semblance of comfort managing events that happen within one's scripty frame of reference.
Internal Social Advantage: They help to establish pseudo-intimacy and pseudo-intimate relationships.
External social Advantage: They help to structure time. They give occasion to generate topics for chats and gossip.
