Structure of Personality

There are as many as twenty one ego states from seven ego state structures of three epochs of life. Material from these organise to generate perceptual frames, facilitate evaluation of reality and generate responses to persons or to end situations, solve problems, overcome difficulties, tide over conditions or cope with challenges. A schematic diagram of the twenty one ego states from seven PAC structures of three epochs of life is given here.

Figure 2
These structures are considered in TA literature under three heads. The First Order Structure - 1 in figure above, Second Order Structure - 2 and 3 in figure above and Third Order Structure - 4 in figure above. Structures 5, 6  and 7 are auxiliary structures not covered in TA literature. They are however significant in trans-generational script transmission and in planting injunctions from Parent in Child (P1) or Child in Parent (C3of a parent.
Some of the activated structures could be at variance from the pure structures given above. These occur because of pathology. Therefore the activated structures may be pure PAC structures comprising 1-2-3 in figure above or of structural pathology in the first order or present in structure 3 and, or 6. A better understanding about these structures will be clear when the reader has gone through the section on structural pathology.
We can identify some of the more recurrent activated personality structures that surface in us when mind talk is going on or when we are engaged in thinking-feeling rackets and psychological time engagements or during our driver, game and racketing engagements.
