Characteristics of Games
1. Players have no clue when the dynamic starts and that the dynamic will result in a payoff. The payoff is not to the liking of both the parties and that is not the reason why they interacted with each other.
2. People engage in games outside of conscious Adult awareness. John James formula helps to bring game play into awareness by asking this first question - 'what happens again and again I don't like'.
3. The moment of surprise takes both parties unawares. They are left 'groping in the dark' as it were to find their bearings.
4. Games end in the parties experiencing their favoured racket feelings.
5. Parties are at their wits end to get rid of the racket feelings. The racket feelings take over their peace of mind.
6. It requires conviction, courage and mutual consent to back-track the game dynamic and run its course to end the initial topic in awareness.
